Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license; employment physical, insurable by University's carrier to drive vehicles, may need Kentucky applicator's license to handle pesticides. May be required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May need to work nights, weekends, holidays or during winter breaks in a variety of weather conditions. Grade 1 (Hourly).

Position Description:

The Groundskeeper position will be responsible for performing work involving the use of large equipment, including mowers, tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks, and other maintenance equipment at the University of Louisville Golf Course. This position will report to the Senior Assistant Superintendent.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mows fairways and roughs, greens, tees
  • Operates equipment; turf vac, skip-loader, aerifiers, sprayers
  • Ensures equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Equipment Mechanic immediately
  • Maintains equipment including basic preventative maintenance as directed by the Equipment Mechanic or Senior Assistant Superintendent and returns equipment to the designated location
  • Perform basic watering techniques
  • Maintain bunkers
  • Course set up
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment; mechanical aptitude
  • Effective organizational and communication skills, including both verbal and written
