Job Description:

The Groundskeeper I with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations performs general grounds maintenance and tree care for UF/IFAS buildings on and off campus. 

Duties will include:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Operates zero-turn mowers for mowing and lawn maintenance of UF/IFAS buildings and grounds on and off campus. Operates weed-eaters, leaf blowers, and edgers in the general grounds maintenance of UF/IFAS buildings and grounds. Driving a state vehicle to work sites will be required.
  • Arborist Assistance: Completes assigned work orders relating to tree care around UF/IFAS buildings on and off campus. Performs various forms of tree work, pruning, and tree removal. Specialized equipment to be used includes but is not limited to bucket truck lift, aerial lift, tractors, stump grinders, chipping equipment, and power saws. Inspects safety equipment daily and replaces it as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM with overtime as required to meet emergencies.

This position is considered Essential Personnel for purposes of staffing and emergency response.

Expected Salary:

$16-17 hourly.

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of the ninth grade and maintaining a valid Florida driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Knowledge of groundskeeping procedures and tree care equipment.

2) Skill in the operation of lawn equipment.

3) High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 1-2 years of experience in the field.

4) Self-starting work ethic

5) Good verbal and written communication skills

6) Ability to learn and use electronic work order system
