Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary
In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, Fraternity and Sorority Life encourages students’ active participation in campus life, leadership roles, philanthropy, academic achievement, and service. Along with professional staff and in collaboration with the entire Fraternity and Sorority Life team, Greek Leadership Assistants are responsible for assisting Greek organizations; strengthening the Greek community through administrative support, programming, promotion and education; and enhancing the quality and sustainability of the Greek community at Chapman University. All Greek Leadership Assistants are members of the Department of Student Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs.
Responsibilities
  • Attend weekly Greek Life staff meetings
  • Attend annual staff training events
  • Act as a liaison between Department of Student Engagement and Greek organizations
  • Respond to all Greek Life communication in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicate regularly with chapter leadership and members (make announcements in Chapter meetings when necessary)
  • Manage the Greek Calendar and the Greek Life email account
  • Assist in other duties as assigned
  • Data and systems
    • Compile chapter end of semester report data and report trends
    • Support data compilation for compliance with California State Law AB 524
    • Promote the use of and oversee online portals, ensuring that organizations have an updated profile
    • Assist with FERPA Release Form tracking and roster management each semester
    • Assist with reporting on Dyad assessment data
    • Assist with management and organization of the FSL shared drives
  • Event support
    • Advise and support Greek organizations in planning events (brainstorm ideas, discuss purpose and best practice, etc.)
    • Check 25Live and approve or deny chapter scheduling requests
    • Act as experts in all steps of event planning (waivers, facilities, contracts, SEAC, etc.)
    • Assist Greek organizations in upholding all University and chapter policies
  • Programming
    • Assist in Department of Student Engagement and Greek Life events (Staff development meetings, tabling and/or presenting at Preview Day, Discover Chapman Day, Involvement Fair, etc.)
    • Work alongside professional staff and Graduate Assistants to develop, plan, and implement trainings and meetings for organization leadership (including executive members and advisors as needed)
    • Support and/or facilitate education and programs for the fraternity and sorority leadership and community (New Member Educator Training, Presidents Retreat, Greek Leadership Summit)
    • Plan and implement New Member Education, Hazing Prevention Week, Academic Achievement programming, Skit Night, and other community wide programming opportunities
    • Assess events and programs (track attendance, plan make-up, send evaluations, etc.)
  • PR GLA
    • Manage and develop content for the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office social media accounts.
    • Work alongside professional staff and graduate assistants to develop, plan, and complete social media campaigns
    • Create content for FSL programs (fliers, slides, digital marketing, t-shirts)

Required Qualifications
  • Experience as member of a Greek organization
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to experience initiative and work independently and with a group
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to use standard office equipment including computer, copier, telephones
  • Minimum of a 2.5 GPA
Desired Qualifications
  •  Campus leadership experience
  •  Prior experience planning, coordinating, and executing logistics of a program or event
  • Knowledge of or experience with campus policies and procedures
  • Effectiveness in establishing rapport with Greek organization members and executive leaders
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to access basement storage facility
Special Instructions to Applicants
GLAs will be paid $16.00/hour. GLAs will work approximately 8-10 hours per week. GLAs will begin work on August 12, 2024.
