Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Graphics Designer will work with a multi-disciplinary team to visualize and communicate complex ideas to a global audience. The Graphics Designer will coordinate complex graphic design and data visualization activities relating to ongoing Justice Sector Training, Research, and Coordination (JUSTRAC) grant activities, as well as other activities as appropriate, of the Rule of Law Collaborative (ROLC); plan and implement graphic design production in coordination with programmatic personnel in support of domestic and foreign symposia and trainings; design and/or review printed materials for JUSTRAC activities, as well as selected other ROLC activities; and other projects as assigned. They will oversee student graphic design workers’ efforts in support of ROLC activities. They will respond in a timely manner to requests for information, graphic design products, and data visualizations from ROLC staff and grant funders.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Must be able to translate programmatic information into design concepts and drafts. Must be able to work collaboratively to conceptualize multiple design ideas and iterations if necessary to meet programmatic needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience successfully managing tasks and deadlines across multiple projects and with multiple staff simultaneously. Experience successfully adapting to changing assignment parameters. Familiarity with UofSC branding and communications guidelines preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent preferred. Proficiency with data visualization software, such as Tableau or equivalent preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be able to translate programmatic information into design concepts and drafts. Must be able to work within a team to conceptualize multiple design ideas and iterations if necessary to meet programmatic needs. Must have artistic sensibility and the knowledge of design elements, such as color and composition. Knowledge of, and ability to use effectively, design software programs. Ability to use design software applications to create captivating images, graphics, logos, etc. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with program personnel to achieve common goals. Ability to communicate effectively visually, verbally, and through the written word. Must be able to organize and prioritize work projects and tasks, and communicate effectively and truthfully regarding progress. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent preferred. Proficiency with data visualization software, such as Tableau or equivalent preferred.
