The Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) supports innovative world language teaching and learning. Our work exists at the intersection of pedagogy, research, and technology. We develop research-based curricula, professional development resources, and assessments to support infrastructure and innovation. Our work includes an intentional focus on interlanguage pragmatics and social competencies. We are one of sixteen National Foreign Language Resource Centers across the country.
The Graphic Designer works with a team of pedagogy specialists to develop concepts for online language learning tools. The position also brings those concepts to life through the creation of graphics and digital assets. The Graphic Designer also develops web and print materials, including logos, for the Center’s specific, grant-funded projects.
• 4+ Years of Graphic Design experience
• Associates Degree + 3 years of Graphic Design experience
• Bachelors Degree + 2 years of Graphic Design experience
Degree may be in Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Fine Art, or closely related field.
• Ability to be an active collaborator on a dynamic team.
• Ability to clearly communicate design principles to those without a background in design.
• Ability to work with a diverse group who have a variety of international and linguistic backgrounds.
• At least two years’ experience designing user interfaces (UI/UX) and assets for websites, online tools, and/or mobile applications.
• At least two years’ experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and/or InVision.
