Job Description

The Graphic Designer III is responsible for supporting the development of educational graphics and interactive media materials that support our publishing, multimedia, and instructional designer teams. Using creative expertise, this position will assist in enhancing the visual and interactive elements of our educational materials. This role involves designing and editing graphics and photos for use in publications, videos, online courses, and various digital platforms. Performs complex graphic design challenges, providing expert consultation to enhance the quality and impact of our visual content.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of related experience in graphics design, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related design field.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Five years of related experience in graphics design, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related design field.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Adobe CC, including advanced Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere skills.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, allowing effective management of multiple projects.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Capacity to receive and implement constructive feedback.

  • Keen attention to detail and strong follow-through on tasks.

  • Demonstrated expertise in layout, color, typography, and translating brand guidelines.

  • Versatility in executing design concepts across various print and digital formats.

  • Critical thinking skills for researching and making design and technology recommendations.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects independently and see them through to completion.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Create effective and accessible graphics for videos, curriculum, and print and web publications.

  • Produce digital and hand-rendered illustrations using Adobe Illustrator.

  • Maintain project documentation, including approvals, comments, drafts, and artwork records.

  • Design and format materials according to web accessibility (ADA compliance) requirements.

  • Generate creative concepts for deliverables, using software applications to determine the ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.

  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts from creation to support.

  • Utilize design software and tools to develop layouts, graphics, and animations.

  • Typeset and manipulate photos to enhance visual impact.

  • Act as a technical resource in graphic design software, hardware, and techniques.

  • Manage multiple projects by setting due dates, recommending proper structures, and upholding stakeholder expectations throughout project lifecycles.

  • Use designated software applications to track the status of assigned projects to ensure work stays on schedule and meets deadlines.

  • Experiment with emerging technologies to deliver content according to internal quality standards.

  • Create content per the in-house AgriLife Educational Development and Engagement Style Guide and AgriLife Branding guidelines.

  • Design and modify templates and materials for internal use.

  • Assist with creating outreach materials and working closely with outreach coordinator.

  • Collaborate with team members to implement appropriate industry design solutions to meet project requirements.
