Job Description

The Graphic Designer II supports the strategic goals and objectives of the college, TEES and the VC&D’s office through high quality, creative and relevant graphic design. Develops, creates and integrates graphics into online and print media. Designs and edits graphics and photographs for use in multimedia, websites and other online purposes; designs brochures, pamphlets, posters, signs, presentations and other print media; develops consistent visual image for various programs and the organization as a whole; discusses needs with customers from concept to creation to customer support; designs effective and accessible graphic interfaces for websites, web pages and applications. Ensures brand compliance and design quality of all marketing materials. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops marketing and communications materials for TEES and College/Departments as necessary including brochures, electronic pieces, display pieces, posters and other collaterals.
  • Develops templates for the agency's communications toolbox so that staff can easily create appropriate branded print and electronic seminar flyers, annual reports, one pagers, etc. (may include PowerPoint slides, invitations, & event programs).
  • Design liaison to Engineering Communications Web team: creates and tests optimized web graphics used on College/Departmental and TEES webpages; considers branding, fonts, and color schemes translated into website schemes; considers accessibility requirements when generating graphics such as transparency and contrast.  
  • Supports the strategic goals and objectives of the college, TEES and VC&D’s office through high quality, creative and relevant graphic design.
  • Maintains visual brand image for the engineering program by working with printers, photographers and other vendors as well as with the video, web and social media staff.
  • Reviews materials for brand compliance.
  • Designs effective and accessible graphic interfaces for websites, web pages and applications.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to see the design process through to pre-press.
  • Supports the alumni & donor relations arms of Engineering Communication to provide materials for events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Two years of related experience in graphics design, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related design field.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and After Effects and printing processes in a Mac environment.
  • Experience in higher education graphic design, print and electronic media, marketing or related field.
  • Familiarity with front-end programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript 
  • Working knowledge of web communication methodologies including responsive design

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work cooperatively with others.
