The Graphic Designer I, under general supervision, supports various graphic production projects for the social media, digital, marketing, and print needs of Texas A&M Athletic department and its sports teams. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Position details: Ability to do both high concept ideation and comparatively less exciting development of production graphics.

Work schedule: Some nights, weekends, and holidays may be required to complete assigned duties.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • No experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of latest design/layout software (example: Adobe CC -- Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

  • Project & time management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Experience:

  • One year of experience in graphics design, preferably in sports.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience with production of motion graphics (Adobe After Effects, Premiere, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Graphics - Designs effective and accessible graphics & elements for social media, web sites, and applications. Creates motion graphics for use on websites and multi-media presentations. Designs brochures, signs, newsletters, presentation templates and materials, and other print media as needed. Designs & collaborates on digital assets within sport specific branding as needed. Helps create season design for sport-specific print & digital marketing collateral. Creates ads for various publications in which the Athletics Department advertises. Creates season ticket and departmental brochures for various sports and offices within Athletics. Creates various note cards/stationery for sports and departments within Athletics. Creates art for signage to be displayed at various Athletic venues and functions.

  • Project Management & Support - Assists the Senior Graphic Designer & co-workers with maintaining brand integrity for the department. Maintains documentation for each project including approvals, comments, drafts and artwork. Performs press checks and approves proofs from printing companies on printed materials if assigned. Collaborates with customers as needed from concept to creation to customer support. Meets with coaches and administrators to develop consistent visual image for the various programs and overall department. Acts as a technical resource in the area of graphics and publication design software, hardware and techniques. Researches and stays abreast of graphics trends, specifically within collegiate and professional athletics. Serves as the primary mentor/supervisor for student team members(s).

  • Compliance - Complies with all industry safety and best practice standards for the execution of hosted events. Compliance is a shared responsibility. Ensures compliance with all safety regulations by coordinating with local Fire, Police and Public Safety departments prior to events. Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athletes: conduct, appearance, punctuality and other areas as deemed appropriate. Maintains awareness of and supports the diversity and inclusion initiatives of the Athletics Department. Assures and maintains the integrity of the Athletics Department and Texas A&M University in all forms of communication and personal contacts. Performs other duties as assigned.
