The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Grant Specialist - Post Award on the Dahlonega campus. This position is responsible for the monitoring of post-award activities of externally-funded projects supported by the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). The Grant Specialist - Post Award will work with the Director of Sponsored Programs and the Senior Grant Specialist - Post Award in activities that assist faculty and staff in accepting, complying with, completing, and reporting out on external award supported projects.

  • Manage and coordinate the monitoring of sponsored awards to ensure they are in compliance with the University, University System of Georgia, federal and state laws and regulations, including monitoring grant account activity and submission of financial and programmatic reports, and serve as liaison with sponsors on behalf of the institution and the Principal Investigator (PI) relative to matters that require sponsor approval.  Review requests to sponsors before submission, including budget revisions and extension requests.  Interpret post-award requirements and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Manage post-award compliance activities, in coordination with other appropriate UNG departments, for all externally sponsored awards supported by OSP, including time and effort reporting, cost-share, financial conflict of interest, and responsible conduct of research.  Administer and monitor sub-awards to outside organizations related to sponsored programs supported by OSP.
  • Work with UNG business and finance operations to set up appropriate UNG grant accounts and budgets.  Review UNG budget amendments submitted by PIs.  Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of Personnel Action Forms for UNG employees receiving compensation from external awards.
  • Assist the Senior Grant Specialist with training of PIs and support staff in activities required to remain in compliance with sponsor requirements and University policies and procedures regarding externally sponsored awards.
  • Update official electronic award files and OSP databases to ensure proper award management and facilitate accurate reporting of sponsored program activity at UNG.
  • Administer "Kick-off" meetings with PIs and collaborating departments to discuss the implementation of the new external awards, including budget management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • General knowledge of federal guidelines related to grant and contract funding (e.g., Uniform Guidance, EDGAR, FAR, etc.).  
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Bachelor's Degree required. 
  • 2 or more years' experience in program planning or budget management. 
  • Master's degree preferred. 
  • Experience with grant management preferred.

Standard Hiring Range: $50,957 - $56,052
