 Manages administrative and financial operations for Research Grants & Contracts and reviews and negotiates complex grants, contracts, and subcontracts. Reviews and reconciles financial and grant documents and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Prepares and negotiates complex budgets and related documents. Serves as a primary contact and resource regarding all aspects of research grants and contracts, updates databases and accounts, and develops and facilitates operational policies and procedures.

Essential Functions The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy is seeking a Grants & Contracts Manager (Pre & Post-Award). This position is responsible for pre-award grant development and post-award grant/financial management, including grant budget preparation, ensuring compliance with research review processes, and University and sponsor requirements. The individual will serve as a liaison between School faculty members and the University’s central Office of Research and Research Accounting to resolve problems. In addition, the incumbent will work strategically with faculty to manage their research portfolios by meeting with faculty members on a regular basis and providing opportunity information in addition to financial reporting. The individual will contribute to the development of research policies, procedures, and proposals within the School of Pharmacy. Pre-Award: Interact with investigators in the preparation and processing of grant and contract proposals. Includes preparing grant budgets and other administrative proposal elements required by sponsor. Individual must be able to work with University’s and sponsors’ electronic proposal submission systems. The incumbent must be able to make decisions and recommend budgetary information for faculty that requires knowledge of funding agency requirements. Post-Award: Manage all post-award activities related to research projects. Resolves any problems that arise by making sound budgetary decisions and recommending actions for implementation by faculty members. Assists the School’s Research Office’s post-award administrator with monitoring and reconciling all financial expenditures for investigators. Work with confidential data on personnel, accounting, and grants. Analyze information, prepare fiscal year projections, modify SPARS, and compile and interpret reports and presentations.
Physical Effort Position is mainly sedentary. Ability to travel to other buildings and floors is required when needed.
