    Position description

    Who we are
The Environmental Markets Lab (emLab) is an interdisciplinary team of scientists based at UC Santa Barbara that conducts cutting-edge, data-driven research on the power, limitations, and design of market-based approaches to tackle the world's most pressing environmental problems. In collaboration with implementing partners, emLab aims to better align environmental objectives and economic incentives in support of sustainable livelihoods and a resilient planet. emLab generates timely insights into effective and equitable solutions within four programs: Climate & Energy, Land & Freshwater, Ocean & Fisheries, and People & Poverty. emLab is seeking a Grants and Operations Coordinator with excellent writing and operations skills who will work closely with emLab’s Executive Director, eleven Principal Investigators, and operations and research staff to support and advance emLab’s mission and impact.

    About the role
We are looking for a passionate Grants and Operations Coordinator who can help turn novel research ideas into compelling project proposals and communicate research findings to diverse audiences. The Grants and Operations Coordinator will support emLab’s operations with a focus on the execution of emLab’s fundraising strategy, including tracking emLab’s fundraising pipeline; identifying new funding partners and prospects; linking new project ideas with potential partners and funders; liaising with potential partners, funders, and principal investigators; and grant reporting. They will be responsible for overseeing the development and submission of proposals to secure funds for emLab research projects and initiatives, a process which involves writing proposal content, managing document review and proposal contributions from project leadership and staff, setting and holding teams accountable to deadlines, developing project budgets, and managing contracts and grants with the University and external partners. This individual will also be expected to write and edit diverse research communications products, including newsletter and website content that highlight key emLab research findings and their real-world applications.

We are seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented team player who is able to juggle many responsibilities to fill this exciting and dynamic role. The successful candidate will have strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills to work across emLab project teams to bring our research to life and support the realization of emLab’s mission and values.

This appointment includes a competitive benefits package with medical, dental, and vision insurance and a UC retirement plan. Salary is commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

    Position open until filled.

The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service as appropriate to the position.
