Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Carolina Brain Health Network is looking for a Grant Writer.
The Grant Writer serves as a grant writer and editor for the USC Brain Health Network. The Grant Writer will work with the Department’s faculty and collaborators to prepare research grant applications and manuscripts for publication. The Grant Writer will also identify funding opportunities relevant to the Brain Health Network.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of related experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a health-related field and five years related experience, including grant writing experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent writing and editing skills. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in research and with word processing and referencing software. Ability to work independently.

Job Duty
Work with the Department’s faculty to prepare research grant applications. Activities will include writing, editing, background research, preparation of funding agency forms, assistance with grant budgets, grant submission, and other related activities.

Work with the Department’s faculty on preparation of manuscripts for publication. Activities will include writing, editing, formatting manuscripts for specific journals, referencing, and electronic and paper submission of manuscripts. Perform other writing, editing, and research responsibilities as assigned.

Work with the Department’s faculty on the development and submission of budgets and progress reports for grants received from NIH and other major funders. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in NIH grants policies and procedures. Inform faculty when changes occur and ensure that grants submitted by the Department incorporate those changes.
