Job Summary:
Reporting to Dr. Melissa Slavin, the Grant Research Assistant (RA) collaborates with the principal investigator on a study aimed at designing and pilot testing a technology-based behavioral intervention. The objective of this study is to reduce substance use and enhance access to contraception among reproductive-aged women facing substance use disorders within criminal legal systems.
The Research Assistant is responsible for various administrative tasks, including recruitment at partnering sites within social service and advocacy organizations catering to women involved in criminal legal settings.
Required Qualifications:
1. Possesses a Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, or a related field, with specific expertise in substance use and sexual and reproductive health among vulnerable populations.
2. Demonstrates a minimum of 2 years of experience as a research assistant, focusing on behavioral research studies or grants. This experience should include proficient recruitment and scheduling of participants.
3. Exhibits comprehensive knowledge and administrative experience pertaining to managing sensitive data.
4. Demonstrates exceptional time and project management skills, adept at working autonomously within deadline-driven environments.
5. Proficient in delivering accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communications.
6. Possesses outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English. Demonstrates a pleasant and competent telephone manner.
7. Exhibits the ability to navigate ambiguous situations decisively, applying knowledge effectively across diverse contexts.
8. Displays proficiency in budget management, with the capability to analyze financial and budgetary data effectively.
9. Shows expertise and proficiency in utilizing various technologies for data processing, management, and analysis, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and relevant software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, nVivo, SPSS). Capable of quickly learning and training staff in new information processing modalities.
10. Maintains a professional, collegial, and friendly work environment conducive to collaboration and productivity.
11. Demonstrates the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality.
12. Exhibits strong organizational skills, with a collaborative approach to fulfilling responsibilities independently and as part of a team.
13. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
