JOB SUMMARY
The Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering (CESE) seeks a full-time Grant Administrator (Financial Assistant 2) to support all facets of pre- and post-award management. The successful applicant will manage sponsored program accounts, process financial transactions, prepare grant proposals, meet firm deadlines, and serve as a resource to faculty members, staff members, and students concerning grants and budgets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides day-to-day management of sponsored program accounts, including account setup, account reconciliation, and financial reporting to meet federal, state, University, and sponsor requirements.
- Maintains accurate financial records, prepares regular reports, and communicates information to principal investigators, including budget balances and projections.
- Processes, reviews, and reconciles financial transactions, including purchasing, travel, payroll, fellowships, and other disbursements. Coordinates the processing of transactions with other University departments as needed.
- Serves as a resource to faculty and staff members for the preparation of grant proposals; prepares required documentation and coordinates proposal submission with Sponsored Program Services as needed.
- Processes no-cost extensions, re-budgets, and cost transfers as needed.
- Reviews and verifies effort reports on sponsored projects.
- Assists the CESE Financial Analyst by providing critical backup.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting procedures.
- Experience with grant/research administration.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Clear, positive, and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work with diverse teams of faculty members, staff members, and students, and to support a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with federal award regulations, sponsor guidelines, and Uniform Guidance.
- Experience with the sponsored program proposal process.
- Experience with the Kuali Financial System (KFS), WebFOCUS, HuskyBuy, PageUp, Concur, Core-CT, Fellowship Workflow System, or similar online enterprise financial systems.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed.
- Experience working in a higher education institution.
