Job Overview

The College of Arts & Sciences is looking for a dynamic individual who will enjoy an engaging and collaborative Grant Administrator 2 position.  This person will provide support to a diverse set of grant awards and build valuable relationships with fellow staff and faculty on both the pre- and post-side of grant processing.  This GA2 will collaborate with the A&S Grants Office, the Central Sponsored Research Office, A&S Faculty, and the A&S Department Business Staff.  We seek a professional with solid financial expertise and broad knowledge of grant management rules and regulations.  The right candidate will have a strong personal drive and creativity to solve unique problems and share in the college's deep value of inclusion and diversity.


Essential Functions
  • Assist faculty and research staff with the processing of financial transactions for federal, state, and private grants, contracts, and any other external funding sources
  • Post-award duties include award set up and management for financial and regulatory compliance, meet regularly with Principal Investigators (PIs) for expense reporting and projects, and processing reports and transactions, including subcontract activity for the full lifecycle of sponsored program administration from start to close out. Assist with pre-award proposal preparation
  • Implement policies that reflect continuous oversight and review of sponsored project funds to ensure that all financial transactions are in full compliance with university policies and funding agency guidelines
  • Advise faculty and research staff with the financial management of sponsored projects to fulfill project-related expenditure goals and objectives, subaward issuance
  • Work directly and collaboratively with the various offices of the university to fulfill all expenditure/compliance requirements and to resolve complex issues that arise during the duration of a sponsored award
  • Assist faculty and senior research staff with the proposal creation, preparation and submission process to external agencies
  • Assist with dissemination of expertise to train future Grant Administrator 1’s and Financial Administrator 1 & 2’s in the department unit to adhere to high standards of compliance with sponsored project requirements and dissemination of knowledge of UC-based financial systems and applications to achieve financial and Human Resource objectives
  • Breadth of duties may span several sub-specialties and may be either unit-specific, typically handling proposal submission and award administration, or more broadly defined encompassing the ability to help grow the research enterprise at UC
  • Complete routine work for grant applications; follow standard principles and systems and use appropriate terminology associated with a particular field of specialization by continuously building on current job knowledge
  • Provide recommended approaches to assigned work to facilitate the achievement of desired results and maintain effective relationships with peers, vendors, and others in a diverse environment
  • Interpret information, ideas, and instructions and communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing including materials intended for distribution
  • Determine causes of unusual occurrences and apply standard principles and practices to determine and implement solutions
  • Evaluate/enhance current practices and efforts to ensure optimal support of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience
  • Two (2) years of grant and/or finance-arelated experience.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance.

  • Experience providing superior service to multiple levels of faculty and staff within a diverse College
  • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting the team's strategic plan for post-award sponsored administration experience
  • Working knowledge of SAP Financial and Business Warehouse reporting

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
