Position Summary
Position is responsible for the review and awarding of degrees. Responsible for the coordination of commencement and Graduation Galas. Liaison to faculty, staff advisors, and students concerning degree requirements and ensuring accurate degree evaluations out of Degree Works. Primary point of contact for graduate student graduation files; responsible for processing programs of Study and review of academic records to determine if graduation requirements have been met.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze degree evaluations and determine if a student has met the requirements for graduation.
  • Assist students and/or advisors in resolving degree deficiencies.
  • Responsible for researching and evaluating graduation issues to determine the best course of action to resolve issues.
  • Process and review of degree evaluations for student academic records to determine eligibility for graduation, processing and appropriate coding of degree application, changes of major, course substitutions, and waivers. Primary point of contact for graduate student graduation files; responsible for processing Programs of Study and review of academic records to determine if graduation requirements have been met. Assisting academic advisors with degree evaluation issues.
  • Assist the Degree Works Coordinator with resolving degree evaluation issues.
  • Responsible for coordination of commencement ceremony and program for five ceremonies and acts as the liaison between the Office of the Registrar and Graduation Committee members to ensure all bases are covered for commencement ceremonies.
  • Liaison to faculty, staff advisors, and students concerning degree requirements and ensuring accurate degree evaluations out of Degree Works.
  • Liaison for the Office of the Registrar and the Athletic Certification Committee.
  • Work with the Athletic Certification Committee to ensure that National Collegiate Athletic Association and ASUN guidelines are met regarding progression toward degree completion.
  • Responsible for scribing degree plans in Degree Works utilizing SQL and updating, testing, and resolving program issues in Degree Works.
  • Respond to all email and Teams inquiries in an effective and timely manner.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Ellucian Banner;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately;

  • Ability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs;
  • Ability to develop and prepare accurate and timely reports;
  • Ability to accurately prepare and edit publications and reports;
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Ability to complete all associated items in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Ability to understand and successfully apply academic policy for higher education with emphasis on registration and record keeping;
  • Ability to work independently, provide attention to detail, and solve problems.
Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Experience working with degree requirements
  • Technical experience preferred
