Position Purpose
Working on campus has its benefits!
Quiet office setting, has super cool staff, and works with other students.
Work no more than 20 hours per week during office hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm [Summer 7:30am-4:30pm]). No nights and weekends.
The student office assistant serves as the first point of contact for students, administrators, faculty, and staff who visit or call the Office of Graduate Studies. The assistant also distributes information to guests regarding services offered within the office suite, which includes the Office of Sponsored Programs & Research Integrity.
Position Purpose/Duties:
· Create a welcoming and helpful environment for all guests in the office or on the phone.
· Transfer phone calls and distribute messages to the appropriate staff member and/or campus department.
· Perform general office duties.
- Support the graduate admissions process.
· Maintain informational bulletin boards.
· Assist with special projects or preparing for events.
· Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate must exhibit a strong work ethic, exercise sound judgment, and work collaboratively as a team member. He or she must also be dependable, punctual, conscientious, and self-motivated to accomplish tasks without constant supervision. Additionally, the candidate must have a friendly, positive, and professional attitude. Students with Federal Work-Study preferred. This position is open to all UCM students (undergraduate and graduate).
Education & Formal Training High school diploma or equivalent
Computer Skills Word-Processing, Spreadsheet
Experience
Must have good customer service and communication skills, multitask, and be reliable.

Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Knowledge of a University environment preferred, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines, Maintain confidentiality
