The salary range for this position is $22 per hour depedning upon qualifications and is non-neogtiable.
This position serves as a Graduate Student CIP (Cyberinfrastructure Professional) Fellow within the Research & Cyberinfrastructure group (https://it.sdsu.edu/research ). This position will participate in an NSF-funded CyberTraining project (https://www.sdsc.edu/education_and_training/cip_fellows_program.html ) focused on learning cyberinfrastructure (JupyterHub, high performance computing, and machine learning) skills. This project is multi-institutional and will focus on skills necessary to support faculty and researchers use of local, national, and regional cyberinfrastructure. These skills will be applied by working directly with our faculty and researchers to facilitate their use of cyberinfrastructure.
Responsibilities
Cybertraining Project (50%)

  • Attend regular cyberinfrastructure training sessions as scheduled
  • Participate with other CIP Fellows, working on shared projects, including, but not limited to, creating documentation, sample code, benchmarks
  • Work with assigned mentor
  • Attend regular project meetings

Software Development and Analysis (45%)
  • Provide technical assistance porting and running a wide variety of computational sciences software as software containers
  • Software development focus on workloads amenable to running in a Kubernetes-based containerized environment
  • Develop data workflows scripts to support moving data into and out of software containers in languages such as Python
  • Use CI/CD tools to develop workflows to aid in creating, maintaining, securing, and publishing software containers
  • Document software and processes

Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • Equivalent to completion of a bachelor's degree and registration in an SDSU graduate degree program

Minimum Experience
  • None
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Linux and command line programs
  • Experience with big data and/or machine learning fundamentals
  • Experience with Python
