GRADUATE STAFF ASSISTANT [PART-TIME 50% FTE, SPRING QUARTER 2022]

We have an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, 50% FTE Graduate Staff Assistant to support the Center for Teaching and Learning’s Theater for Change program starting Spring Quarter 2022. That support includes helping develop and deliver workshops, conversations, and other activities for UW instructors, graduate students, and post-docs, as well as assisting the program lead in completing planning and logistical tasks associated with the program.

Duties & Responsibilities

Theater for Change (90%)

1.     Collaborate in planning, scheduling, rehearsing, and facilitating workshops and performances associated with the CTL’s Theater for Change program.
2.     Attend training sessions related to Theater for Change facilitation.
3.     Collaborate to develop information and communications related to Theater for Change activities, including emails, newsletter copy, and web page content.
4.     Collaborate to develop CTL grant proposals and projects related to Theater for Change.
5.     Assist Theater for Change Director in the planning and delivery of the Theater for Change course to be taught in collaboration with the School of Drama.
6.     Assist TFC director with writing, researching, and rehearsing new Theater for Change plays

Other Duties (10%)

1.     Attend CTL weekly team meetings and instructional consultant meetings as needed.
2.     Participate in other CTL programming as needed.

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Start date of 3/16/2022 for Spring Quarter (Spring: March 16–June 15) with possibility for extension based on department need

REQUIREMENTS:

•     Registered UW Graduate Student (Spring quarter 2022) in good standing and eligible to hold a Graduate Student Assistantship.
•     Experience using anti-racist, intersectional lenses to sustain inclusive classrooms and/or work environments
•     Demonstrated success working with instructors, teaching assistants, and/or students to advance student, staff, and/or instructor success
•     Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from diverse sources, using a variety of methods
•     Demonstrated experience facilitating classroom or workplace activities for diverse groups.
•     Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
•     Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

DESIRED:

•     Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college or university level.
•     Experience participating in initiatives, classes and workshops grounded in arts-based pedagogy and/or Theater of the Oppressed.
•     Experience leading initiatives focused on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and workplace.
•     Experience working effectively in projects that include challenging conversations and reflection
•     Experience with engaging and researching social justice and equity topics or at least one year of relevant experience with interactive or social justice theater

TERMS:

CREDIT LOAD:

Must be formally enrolled in the UW Graduate School for at least 10 credits during Spring quarter 2022 and be in good standing.

SALARY:

Major components of tuition plus standard salary; salary is commensurate with student standing. 2021-22 Salary Chart: TA/RA Salaries
