The School of Visual Arts (SoVA) is launching a design research lab and is in the process of hiring a Research Assistant (RA). The newly established OU Research for Computer-Human Interaction Design (OURHCID) lab is dedicated to advancing knowledge in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research, with a focus on Human-Centered Design, User Experience, and Generative AI. In your role as an RA, you play a vital role in supporting the research team in various aspects of HCI research, including literature review, study design, data collection and analysis.
Responsibilities:
The lab has recently secured a grant from the Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships (OVRP) to conduct research on developing a generative AI pedagogical framework for design education. As part of the research team, the RA will have the primary responsibility of supporting this research. This includes:
- Conducting literature searches and staying updated on the latest developments in research topics.
- Assisting the research team in planning and implementing data collection procedures, which may involve conducting surveys and interviews.
- Performing Literature Reviews in HCI topics.
- Conducting Thematic Analysis on qualitative data to extract meaningful insights.
- Collaborating with the research team to contribute to ongoing projects.
- Effectively communicating with team members to ensure the success of research initiatives.

Job Requirements
---
Required Education: Bachelor's degree. Must be current OU Graduate Student and enrolled in the SPRING semester.
- Must attach Spring 2024 ONE class schedule
- Enrolled in a graduate program in a related field (e.g., HCI, Computer Science, Design, Psychology) at OU.
Skills:
- Background or a keen interest in conducting design research including literature reviews, surveys and interviews, and design evaluation.
- Strong analytical skills in both qualitative methods (such as Thematic Analysis) and quantitative approaches.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and teamwork.
- Working knowledge of prototyping tools such as Figma desired.
