Position Summary
The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) will assist Dr. Jennifer Penn in the promotion of Parkinson’s related research and events.
Essential Functions
The GRA will assist with the following:
  • Manage social media content, recruitment
  • Management and training of UIW Health Professions students in balance screening protocols;
  • Editing, writing and creating marketing materials for print and online/social media;
  • Editing and writing for IRB application for balance screenings of individuals with Parkinson’s disease;
  • Train student volunteers for IP balance screenings;
  • Assist with data collection;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Must have good organizational skills, critical thinking, experience with Microsoft Office products including, Power point, Word, Teams, forms, and Excel spreadsheets;
  • Experience with production of graphical representations of data and typing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University.
Required Education
UIW student enrolled in the Physical Therapy doctoral program who has completed the Patient Client Management IV curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with social media and use of Canva software for creation of flyers;
  • Some experience with Excel is desired;
  • It would be helpful if the student has performed balance screening on an individual with balance deficits.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
N/A.
Work Hours
Receive 3 credit hours of tuition assistance in exchange for a total of 150 hours within a semester.
Physical Demands
  • Candidate must be able to stand for periods of time;
  • There may be requirements for moving light supplies (no more than 20lbs for events);
  • When possible, a cart will be utilized to move supplies.
