The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill multiple graduate research assistantship positions in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH) – the National Institute on Aging (NIA).  Applicants should send a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a brief description of research interests, and the names/contact information of three references via email to James Lee, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago. Graduate students will be responsible to perform AD research, including cell culture, animal handling and dissection, biochemical characterizations, cell and membrane mechanical characterizations using atomic force microscopy (AFM), retinal structure characterization using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and angiography (OCTA), data analysis, and reporting research findings for journal publications.



Candidates must have B.S. or M.S. in biomedical engineering, biophysics, physics, biochemistry, and/or related fields. Experience with cell culture and fluorescence microscopy is preferred but not required.
