Graduate Research Assistants in Bizzell Memorial Library 5th Floor Special Collections provide reference and technical services for the History of Science Collections, the Bass Business History Collection, the John and Mary Nichols Collections, and the Bizzell Bible Collection. This position is primarily responsible for assisting with the collections and operations of the 5th floor Special Research Collections and helping curator with special projects. Duties include a large focus on archival processing, assistance with instruction, and general workflow help. Other duties may include assisting with exhibit preparation, documentation of collection materials, and digitizing materials for patron requests. The graduate assistant will work Saturdays and occasional evening events. Required Education: Bachelor's degree and acceptance to master’s degree program are required. Must be a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring is contingent upon verification by Human Resources of current student and visa status.

  • Must attach current class schedule and a list of days/times available to work.
  • Must indicate expected date of graduate from master's program.

Skills:


  • Must communicate effectively in written and oral English.

  • Must be able to complete work assignments with attention to detail and minimal supervision. 

Certifications:


  •  None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Regular bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, light lifting.
  • Frequent computer use.

Department Preferences:

  • Prefer graduate student enrolled in related field or OU School of Library and Information Studies.
  • Experience in customer service, clerical work, or a library.
  • Experience with mobile computing and media production.
  • Ability to read a second language.
  • Preference will be given to students who are able to work in the position for more than one semester.
