Job Overview

The Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Graduate Program Coordinator. The department is one of the largest in the College of Arts and Sciences and is an active, diverse, growing and busy department with a mission that spans research, instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and community and professional service.  The Graduate Program Coordinator serves as the primary contact for our doctoral and terminal master's graduate programs to those within the university and from the general community. Other responsibilities include providing graduate student assistance, including tuition remission processing, graduation certification, graduate coursework documentation, and graduate student tracking; and assisting the Graduate Directors with admissions processes and coordinating/processing graduate scholarships and fellowships.

 

The graduate program works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders to achieve set goals. The ideal candidate must be a valuable contributor to the team, be able to work independently, solve problems and pay attention to detail.

 


Essential Functions
  • Develop program objectives and monitor quantitative and qualitative data on progress toward objectives.  Review objectives to identify problems and solutions, prioritize solutions and develop action steps for program improvement.  
  • Develop, administer and analyze assessment/evaluation questionnaires. Compile statistics and prepare reports.  
  • Interact with staff faculty, external agencies and other university departments.  
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).  
  • Gather and interpret data to inform clinical planning and placement efforts. Develop and implement strategies to educate and support stakeholders involved in graduate clinical experiences and internship placements.  
  • Support the graduate student experience through proactive outreach and exemplary customer service.  
  • Interact with current and prospective students, staff, faculty, other university departments, and external partners.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of program coordination experience.


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Strong data-entry and computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office Suite, database software, and/or other similar software programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to support directors with official offer letters, email distributions, and online information.. 
    role is preferred, particularly within an academic setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectful with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
