Chemistry & Biochemistry Graduate Program Administrator

 

Job Summary: This position interfaces with faculty to administer the department's graduate program from marketing to degree completion for approximately 100 MS and PhD degree candidates.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Graduate Program Marketing and Recruiting
    • Works closely with faculty to develop and Implement Comprehensive Recruiting Plan
    • Analysis of Admissions and Recruiting Data
    • Directs Activities within the Recruiting Efforts (Prospective Student Site Visit, New Student Orientation, etc)
    • Ex-Officio Member of Graduate Recruiting Committee
    • Management of Department Graduate Program Website
    • Oversight of Summer Internship Programs
  • Graduate Program Administration
    • Admissions Administration
    • Ex-Officio Member of Admissions and Waivers Committees
    • Oversees Scholarships and Fellowships
    • Interfaces with Various American Embassy Officials and BYU's International Office on behalf of International Graduate Students
    • Degree Progress; tracking and reporting to Degree Completion
    • All Communications for the Graduate Program, including Program Surveys
    • Career Development
    • Supervises Student Employees

Skills and Qualifications:

  • More than One Year of Experience with Program Management
  • Display integrity and empathy while working with Students in an Academic Environment 
  • Experience with Recruiting and Marketing Campaigns
  • Large-scale Event Planning (Logistics, Budgeting, Surveys)
  • Working Knowledge of Website Design, preferably Brightspot
  • Ability to work with Students and others from all Backgrounds, Nationalities, and Ethnicities in a Complex and Variable Environment.
  • Communication Skills -- Active listener, Competent and Confident, able to make decisions independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Display learning agility, attention to detail, and resilience while in command of simultaneous programs/activities.
