Job Summary

Harvard Athletics will be launching the institution’s first Graduate Intramural Program, which will provide opportunities for graduate students across the university to participate in intramural sports. The Graduate Intramurals Coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the Graduate Intramural program. This position will help to improve the graduate student athletic experience by serving as the primary contact for all graduate club scheduling and facility requests. This position will report to the Director of Recreational Student Programming.

This is a two-year term position.


Position Description

Coordinate all graduate athletic club requests.

  • Serve as primary contact for all graduate club scheduling and facility requests
  • Manage communication between graduate school coordinators and athletic department staff
  • Collect all scheduling needs from graduate school programs
  • Build relationships with graduate school coordinators

Develop and implement structure for new graduate intramural program.

  • Work to design and develop the first graduate intramural program, based on recommendations from the Graduate Intramural Working Group
  • Establish structure and program participation guidelines, confirm athletic space locations, establish equipment and apparel inventory and promote the program to all graduate students
  • Work with the Provost’s Office and graduate school administrators to establish a Graduate Intramural Council and identify and hire three paid Graduate IM Representatives

Manage graduate intramural program.

  • Work with events, facilities, and recreation departments to secure available space and communicate needs between athletics and the Graduate IM Council
  • Manage all administrative logistics of the program including, but not limited to equipment procurement, officiating, program promotion, and safety protocols
  • Serve as athletics liaison to Graduate IM Council and assist student group with necessary operating procedures such as: playing and eligibility rules, competitive schedules, access to facilities

Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting the Director, Recreational Student Programming with undergraduate House and First-Year IM Program
  • Assist with Murr Center lobby reception as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, web-based applications
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Outstanding oral and written communications, as well as attention to detail

Physical Requirements

Job responsibilities may require individuals to lift up to 50 pounds.
