- The Biology Department at Eastern Washington University is excited to recruit graduate students funded under a Department of Education Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) grant for fall 2023. We seek GAANN Fellows for our Master’s program who will ultimately pursue a PhD, and are planning a career focused on either teaching or research. Individuals from historically underrepresented backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. Eligible students must have outstanding academic credentials, demonstrated financial need (FAFSA), and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. GAANN Fellows will receive a tuition waiver and a stipend of up to $34,000 annually, with up to two years of support. GAANN Fellows may focus on any area in biology and are encouraged to contact individual faculty members in the EWU Biology Department to discuss their research interests.
