Definition of Class

This position manages the recruitment, admission and enrollment of graduate students at the University of MS. The incumbent serves as point of contact for prospective students for various graduate academic programs, advises prospective students regarding the admission process, provides application assistance and status updates to applied students, and assists to successfully register new, readmitted and current graduate students.


Examples of Work Performed
  • Assists in the planning, implementation, and execution of marketing and recruitment materials and strategies for graduate academic programs.
  • Develops and engages in effective communication strategies for the recruitment of prospective graduate students.
  • Maintains communication with representatives from degree programs, the School and other institutional partners to market graduate programs to enrolled students.
  • Serves as point of contact for prospective students for various graduate academic programs.
  • Meets with prospective student either in-person or by phone or video.
  • Counsels international students regarding admissions standards, academic and non-academic programs, scholarships, stipends and awards, financial aid and student activities.
  • Facilitates individual and/or group information sessions, town halls and campus tour visits for prospective students and their guests.
  • Represents the University at recruitment events to interpret institutional and program specific admissions requirements, provide financial information and guidelines, and give information regarding programs of study.
  • Assist students through all aspects of the admissions process including the collection, evaluation and distribution of documents and information related to their admissions file.
  • Maintains knowledge of graduate student financial aid opportunities and processes.
  • Assists with identifying graduate students eligible for financial aid, scholarships, stipends, and awards.
  • Monitors and ensures successful registration for new and current students.
  • Assists students in finding solutions to issues. Communicates constantly with constituent departments. Coordinates closely to ensure student issues are resolved.
  • Collaborates with applicable departments to ensure the successful admission and enrollment of students.
  • Manages the effectiveness of processes related to student applications, admissions and enrollment; and determines strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Manages and maintains student experiences related to applying, being admitted, and enrolling in courses.
  • Prepares reports needed to analyze effectiveness of procedures, marketing efforts and recruitment strategies.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the admission and enrollment of graduate students.

  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Higher Education, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

    AND

    Experience:
    Four (4) years of experience related to the above described duties.

    AND
    License:
    A valid driver's license.
