The Student Success Center at University Park is seeking a Penn State graduate student for a half-time Graduate Assistant position.

Responsibilities of the graduate assistant include but are not limited to case management, and providing academic and life skills support to students participating in the center’s programs and initiatives, including Complete Penn State. The graduate assistant will work with the Student Success Center staff to implement and evaluate programs that support students and fulfill the University’s strategic goal in areas of retention, graduation, and closing persistence and achievement gaps. This will include opportunities for data collection and analysis, event planning, benchmarking, and brand promotion. The position will also require collaboration with various administrators, academic advisors, and faculty within the Penn State community.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to advocate and provide equitable support to students from diverse populations such as first-generation students, adult learners, online learners, and students who identify as being from historically minoritized and marginalized communities.

Candidates must possess strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills, and the ability to take initiative to advance the center’s mission is also required. Preferred experience includes a general knowledge of Penn State’s student information and learning management systems (Canvas, Starfish, PeopleSoft, and Office 365).

The position requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for 18 weeks each semester (i.e., Fall and Spring) and is a one-year appointment (36 weeks) with the possibility of renewal after an annual review. The position also includes a waiver of tuition and a monthly stipend. Candidates must be enrolled full-time in a graduate program. Preference will be given to those pursuing an advanced degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or other related human service fields.

To apply, upload your resume, cover letter, and a list of three professional references by Friday, April 26, 2024. Selected candidates will be invited to schedule a Zoom interview starting April 29.
