Position Summary
The physical therapy program at Gannon University is committed to excellence in student-centered learning, with an emphasis on student-learning outcomes. Our graduate assistants play an important role in achieving these outcomes, working collaboratively with program faculty and colleagues as they assist in program operations, hosting open-lab times with first year students, tutoring as requested by the faculty, and in practice opportunities. Graduate assistants must maintain student confidentiality, display initiative, and be flexible with work requirements. This position is for students beginning the second year of the DPT program.
Responsibilities in the fall semester include:
1. Ensuring that all students abide by laboratory safety guidelines, are wearing proper attire (long pants, closed-toed shoes, eye protection), and are maintaining professional rapport during scheduled lab times
2. Dissection of cadavers per provided instructions. It is expected that the second-year anatomy graduate assistant will mentor the first-year graduate assistant in completion of dissections
3. Assist/manage of open labs for first-year anatomy students to ensure lab safety
4. Assist in maintaining an inventory of essential lab materials including nitrile gloves and dissection kits
5. Ensuring that all lab surfaces and tools are properly cleaned/disinfected following dissections or open labs
Responsibilities in the spring semester include:
1. Maintenance of PT lab environment including organization, set-up/clean-up, inventory and laundry
2. Assist faculty with administrative tasks and grading as assigned
Career Readiness Competencies: Leadership: Plan, initiate, manage, complete, and evaluate projects to enhance the undergraduate experience within the physical therapy program. Teamwork: Collaborate with faculty and the other GA’s to effectively complete all responsibilities and tasks. Professionalism: Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner to accomplish program goals and needs. 
Required Qualifications
- Anatomy graduate assistants will complete most of their work in the human gross anatomy lab, and will assist with other work performed in busy classroom environments or office settings as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
No instances of academic or professional behavior probation.
