Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant provides support to the Coordinator of Testing, and Testing Specialist in the daily operations of the Testing Center, helping to maintain the integrity of testing process in other testing locations. Serve as the first line of contact with students and faculty, administer faculty make-up examinations, national computer based exams such as CLEP, DSST, BYU FLATS, TSI, and ATI TEAS exams. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Coordinator of Testing Services.
Essential Functions
  • Interaction with students, faculty, and administrators in a professional manner.
  • Assist with reception duties as necessary.
  • Assist Coordinator during testing and supervises daily exams as required.
  • Facilitate administration of faculty make-up exams.
  • Set up and administer Nelson-Denny work stations and exams as needed.
  • Serving as an information source to students and faculty about the services offered.
  • Read for and/or scribe for students with accommodations as necessary.
  • Set up CLEP server and work stations as needed.
  • Proctor computer-based exams.
  • Assist with the coordination of Nelson-Denny exams.
  • Coordinate with the QEP Administration, as needed.
  • Enter data into testing spreadsheets, as requested by Coordinator or Specialist.
  • Assist with the creation of monthly reports.
  • Ensure security of make-up exams by following established procedures.
  • Monitor exam takers in other testing spaces, as needed.
  • Strictly maintain confidentiality of student testing records.
  • Comply with University Testing Services policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in standard computer skills (esp. Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet browser(s) ).
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality with student records.
  • Familiarity with University’s student support services and departments.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Current UIW graduate student.
Required Work Experience
Previous customer service.

None.
Work Hours
Ability to work at least 10-15 hours per week.
Flexibility to work during Testing Center hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs.
