Scope of Job
Responsibilities:

This is not an exhaustive list, rather is a generalization of duties:
  • Developing tools and methods for collecting data such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires
  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify student trends and needs
  • Researching student opinions and marketing strategies and proposing adjustments to current strategies accordingly
  • Creating graphic representations of data and translating complex research into easily readable content for stakeholders and other departments
  • Preparing marketing proposals and presentations based on the food pantry needs
  • Measuring student satisfaction with products and services
  • Monitoring and managing the Food Pantry’s social media platforms, adjusting outreach tactics as needed

· Prepares reports and analysis of cases to identify trends impacting students at the University
· Design and prepare outreach activities that can proactively address risks to students
· Other duties as assigned
Learning Outcomes:
Learning outcomes can be adjusted to meet the needs of students or faculty based on degree. In general, the outcomes would be:
· Identify and design intervention strategies that enhance raise awareness and participation
· Apply communication or public relations theory and practice to real-life problems and issues common within Higher Education
· Demonstrate ability to develop assessment plans and activities that evaluate intervention strategies
· Produce high-quality outreach content and materials for outreach activities
· Develop a working knowledge of policies, procedures, and laws that impact the Higher Education environment
· Demonstrate good teamwork and communication skills through weekly interactions with clients and staff
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
The Student Food Pantry is looking for a Graduate Assistant to join our offices in Edinburg to act as an outreach coordinator to inform the community about the food pantry and aid in addressing issues of food insecurity on the UTRGV campuses. Programs would include providing information about services, needs, issues, reducing stigma, etc. Graduate Assistants should be prepared to work in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace that will deal with a wide variety of clientele.
This position will require a background check and a signed agreement of client confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
UTRGV SRR is looking for graduate students who are majoring in Communication, Hospitality, Marketing, or Public Policy Administration degrees.
