Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Language and Cultural Studies, Anthropology and Sociology is currently seeking a Graduate Assistant to support El Centro initiatives with recruitment, retention, and graduation starting the Fall 2024 semester. Candidates will assist with university-wide efforts through peer mentoring, as well as community outreach and tutoring with Actividades Bilingues. Candidate will work closely with the Bobby Verdugo and Yoli Rios Bilingual Peer Mentor and Tutoring Center, CIEGE, and other offices on campus. Required: candidates must be bilingual in Spanish/English. Must be available for evening and weekend hours when required. Review of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Candidates must be bilingual Spanish/English with undergraduate coursework in Spanish. Candidates must qualify for graduate assistantships as outlined by the EKU Graduate School (http://gradschool.eku.edu/graduate-assistantships).

• Bachelor's degree
• Enrolled in EKU Graduate School

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with self-motivation and leadership qualities, including outreach in the local community. Must be bilingual Spanish/English.

 

Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the needs of the unit, available sponsorship budget, and the qualifications of the candidate.
