Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Office of University Counsel will conduct and analyze legal and policy research on matters impacting University operations as well as draft various documents, including but not limited to memorandums, letters, and other communications related to departmental activities.
It is anticipated that the GA also will work closely with the Assistant Counsel on the development, revision, and implementation of the University’s Policies, including but not limited to staffing drafting team meetings as well as benchmarking existing and prospective Policies with those at other colleges and universities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills as well as possess the ability to comprehensively examine emerging issues to find workable solutions in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will also display an interest in law, government, higher education administration, business administration, and/or public administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Must be enrolled at EKU
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills as well as possess the ability to comprehensively examine emerging issues to find workable solutions in a timely manner.
Interest in law, government, higher education administration, business administration, and/or public administration.
Job Duties:
- 50% - Conduct and analyze legal and policy research on matters impacting University operations. - (Essential)
- 30% - Work with the Assistant Counsel on the development, revision, and implementation of the University’s Policies, and uploaded policies to the policy website. - (Essential)
- 20% - Draft various documents, including but not limited to memorandums, letters, and other communications related to departmental activities. - (Essential)
