Brief Job Description
This posting is for two graduate assistantship positions within the School of Education.
Position 1: The School of Education Office of the Dean is seeking a graduate assistant to assist the unit communications officer with the development of graduate profiles to be shared online, including gathering information from graduates, writing profile articles, and coordinating interviews. The assistant will also maintain portions of the SOE and department websites using a template system, will assist with event organization and facilitation, and will design engaging and professional printed and online marketing materials for the unit. The assistant will, under the direction of the dean’s office, often collaborate with unit faculty and staff on projects and may be asked to serve as a student representative on teacher education related committees. The position requires 20 hours per week.
Position 2: The Professional Development Schools Consortium (PDS) is seeking a graduate assistant to assist with meeting and retreat preparation, orientation, and mentoring. The assistant will oversee graduate and PDS information boards; engage in research with faculty; and assist in preparations for Graduate Advisement Week, the campus Week of Welcome, new student orientations, and department graduate project presentation nights. This position requires 20 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
Current or entering full-time (6 credit hours) matriculated graduate student at Buffalo State College. Demonstrate knowledge of, and experience using, Microsoft Office programs and ability to successfully navigate and communicate on web-based platforms. Demonstrate excellent organization and communication skills, especially the ability to write clearly and effectively. Demonstrate ability to work well in a collaborative professional higher education office.
Preferred Qualifications
Position 1: Experience writing articles, descriptive essays, and/or reports. Experience using graphic design programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite.
Position 2: Report writing experience.
