High Point University’s Graduate Admissions is seeking a Graduate Admissions Recruiter. This position is responsible for recruitment, admission, and enrollment of prospective graduate students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • A bachelor's degree is required.  A master's degree is preferred.

Experience and Training

  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience and successful track record in recruitment and admissions is preferred.  Other customer focused or relationship development experience can be considered.

  • Communication – Effective and influential communication skills.  Excellent writer.  Comfortable speaking with prospective students individually or in group settings.
  • Management – Ability to manage applications, application process/flow, events, new opportunities.  Make recommendations for improvement and measure results.  
  • Interpersonal – Develops professional connections with prospective students, team members, partners, faculty and program leadership. Is sensitive to and values distinctiveness in those connections. Brings a service oriented, problem-solving approach to working with others.
  • Flexibility/Adaptability– In a rapidly growing and evolving department, flexibility to adjustments in responsibilities and day-to-day duties is necessary.
  • Travel – Frequent traveling as needed to recruit at graduate fairs, events, clubs, business and meetings with prospective students and advisors as appropriate for program recruitment. Makes travel arrangements and schedules within travel budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :  

  • Strategic Planning – Develops, implements and tracks the results of a plan for attracting students with the right academic qualifications and experiences from target schools, programs, and businesses for each academic program assigned.  Set goal for inquiries, applications, campus visitors and admitted applicants.
  • Management – works closely with academic programs and senior leadership to set and achieve enrollment goals.
  • Inquiry Development – Search for and develops opportunities to increase inquiries for HPU programs:
    • Businesses
    • Feeder Programs
    • Advisors, Clubs
    • Referrals
    • Graduate Fairs and Other Recruitment Events

Applicant Pool Development and Recruitment

  • Listens to prospective students to determine their interests, goals, needs, questions, concerns, obstacles and motivations so that we can address them and help them on their path toward a graduate education.
  • Identifies and prioritizes inquiries who are fit for our programs.
  • Communicates with qualified candidates to move them toward application and, ultimately, enrollment.

Application Processing

  • Develops knowledge and expertise in the use of application tools and software.
  • Follow up with applicants to address questions and increase application completion rates.
  • Efficiently review and evaluate applications as assigned across all programs.

Yield Building

  • Develops strong relationships with admitted and deposited applicants.
  • Follow up communications to encourage applications, deposits and enrollments. 

Communication

  • Individual meetings in both face-to-face and virtual settings as well as telephone, text and email outreach to build relationships with prospective students, evaluate interest, answer questions, provide information and move toward a campus visit, application completion and enrollment.

Team Support

  • Develops ability to communicate, provide tours and meet with prospective students for any HPU graduate program.
  • Represents all graduate programs at fairs, open houses, interview days, admitted student days, etc.
  • Assists other recruiters and Graduate Admission team members as time permits.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere through productive interactions and communication with students, faculty, co-workers and managers.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

This position does not directly supervise others.
