Job Summary


Graduate Admissions Counselor supports the graduate enrollment efforts of the university by providing admissions information to prospective or newly admitted students, creating communication materials, and by representing the university virtually and at onsite locations such as other institutions and local businesses. Monitors progress of applicants, coordinates receipt of supporting application materials, conducts graduate student tours and interacts with University Colleges and Schools.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Manages recruitment activities.
  • Interacts with prospective students through appointments, telephone, tours, email, and other methods.
  • Travels for recruitment purposes.
  • Provides creative support in the development of recruitment marketing materials and communications including letters, brochures, website postings, electronic mail, and other mediums.
  • Assists with special program initiatives by participating in info sessions, phone calls, texting, and emails.
  • Compiles recruitment data from Banner, Workday, Recruit, and Slate.
  • Maintains accurate records of all recruitment activities. Compiles and reports on recruitment initiatives and data.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates results, implements new processes, and promotes best practices.
  • May provide training and development services to increase workforce competence, employee engagement, or organizational capability.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires either five years of directly full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of full-time experience directly related to the job functions. 
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
