Job Description

The division includes four uniquely equipped teams; Operations, Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate and Degree Completion Enrollment Development, and Financial Aid. Summary of Position: The Graduate Admissions Counselor will implement recruitment process from inquiry to matriculation for prospective students within assigned territory/programs to achieve or exceed the pre- determined, graduate and or adult degree completion programs, quantitative goals. Participate in policy, best practice, business requirements, and data analytics discussions as it relates to enrollment populations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, maintain contact, and enroll prospective students; plan and arrange necessary travel within territory; and contribute to office-based communications flow plan with students and college contacts to achieve or exceed the pre-determined quantitative goals while actively monitoring and managing admissions funnel.
  • Establish and maintain an informational, active communication system with prospective students by means of college visits, college/corporate fairs, telephone recruiting, e-mail/text campaigns, and personal visits to promote Augsburg University.
  • Read, interpret, and evaluate students' academic credentials to assist prospective students in determining level of fit for programs.
  • Support planning of events for prospective students and coordinate the involvement of faculty and staff with partnership institutions/organizations to enhance and deepen their relationships with Augsburg.
  • Coordinate with the Admission Leadership and Operations Manager to maximize the CRM platform in the recruitment process, acquire accurate data, define and develop excellent business practices, and assist in the development of helpful reporting.
  • Participate in cross department discussions pertaining to problem-solving, college policy, best practice, business requirements, and data analytics discussions.
  • At the direction of your supervisor, connect with outside organizations to raise the level of public awareness of Augsburg including: military organizations, higher education associations, professional and corporate organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic partners.
  • Complete initial unofficial transfer credit evaluations and coordination of advisement services.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work with supervisor on creation of all new communication pieces.
  • Work with supervisor and student financial services to better understand financial aid options and share financial aid options with prospective graduate students.
  • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Typical work environment is an office. 
  • Sedentary work for long periods at a time. 
  • Regional travel at various fairs which includes standing, talking, presenting.
  • Regular phone and computer use. 
  • Occasional intense work environment as it relates to emotional reactions from students and/or parents.
  • Medium work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Including carrying boxes, pushing carts, and moving inventory on shelves.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of or experience using customer relations platform/software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite and CRM platforms is preferred.
  • Admission experience as a professional staff or student worker
  • Ability to speak bilingually: Spanish, Somali, Arabic or Hmong

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment; work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to show initiative
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, understanding.
  • Ability to organize workflow and manage one or more projects.
  • Ability to travel in the Metro Area and infrequently to locations outside of metro.
