The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) maintains an internationally recognized research program with three core research areas (operations, data analytics, and human factors and ergonomics) applied to health care, transportation, energy, and manufacturing.   ISE prepares students for careers in a diverse and dynamically global environment, by providing them with the skills to foster a sustainable and safe future. The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary Graduate Academic Advisor (Pro Staff Temp Position (ES)) for our graduate degree programs.

POSITION PURPOSE
This position provides advising, leadership and administrative support to the graduate education programs in ISE which include: the Masters of Industrial and Systems Engineering (MISE),  Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE), PhD in Industrial Engineering (PhD) and Graduate Certificates. The MISE degree is our current masters of engineering degree  and serves working professional students.  ISE is developing a new masters of engineering program: Masters of Engineering in Leadership and Systems Innovation (MELS). We also have two certificates run through Continuum College: Engineering Leadership (EL) and Global Integrated Systems Engineering (GISE).

The primary function of this position is to support the full-time and part-time graduate programs. This position also collaborates with the department chair and faculty coordinator in developing new initiatives and programs that strengthen and expand ISE relationships with industry and academic partners. This position reports to the Assistant Director of  Advising with a dotted line report to the faculty coordinator of the professional programs and the graduate program coordinator (GPC).

With the expansion of professional programs, the position requires the ability to multitask, prioritize job responsibilities, and utilize independent judgment in project planning, management, and implementation. It requires the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff, members of industry, and international partners.                         

The ideal candidate will be team oriented with a collaborative approach to work responsibilities and the desire to interact extensively with colleagues while being flexible, independent, and self-motivated. Proficiency using PCs, web page use/authorizing and familiarity with presentations graphics and publication software. Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, including those for whom English is a second language. Superior administrative and organization skills, with the demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of varied, detailed tasks simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
