Position Summary

Research assistant within the Center for Child Health and Development in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Research activities would span across multiple projects in the area of autism and related developmental disabilities. Primary areas of emphasis relate to 1) sex differences, including the female presentation of autism, as well as implementation and evaluation of interventions for girls and young women with autism (e.g., Girls Night Out program); 2) parent and community training programs to prevent and decrease disruptive behaviors in children with autism and other developmental disabilities (e.g., PCIT, CARE).

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s level degree with ambitions for a graduate degree in a related field and desire to complete 1-2 years of research experience prior to graduate school OR individual currently enrolled in a doctoral program and previous experience.

Participant recruitment and assessment activities; Assist with grant applications to foundations or federal agencies; Coordinate community training sites and participants; Program evaluation and follow-up (outcome measures, satisfaction measures, on-going assessment and follow-up); Data collection, entry, and analysis; Develop infographics to share findings in accessible and meaningful format; Disseminate results and summaries to participants, community members, and scientific community (Newsletters, posters/presentations, manuscripts); Design supplemental materials and strategies to support training and research activities (website, recruitment materials, social media); and Collaborate with other students, faculty, professionals, and researchers within an interdisciplinary setting.
