Government Relations Associate

The Government Relations Associate serves as a member of the Museum's government and corporate relations team and is responsible for helping administer all facets of the government relations program at AMNH. This position will support the Vice President and Director of Government Relations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administrative duties including: answering phones, filing, scheduling, maintaining databases, distributing incoming and outgoing materials, facilitating mailing projects.
  • Researching and writing letters, memos and reports.
  • Coordinating various support services for meetings/events.
  • Managing departmental needs, including office supplies.
  • Assisting in departmental meetings and events.


The expected salary range for the Government Relations Associate is $43,000/annual- $48,000/annual. This position is overtime eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires occasional early morning and evening availability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in business administration, political science or related field.
