Position Summary
GME: Primary coordinator of either: 
• Three or more accredited educational programs that combined total at least 12 trainees OR 
• at least two accredited educational programs that together total at least 25 or more trainees OR 
• One accredited educational program with at least 30 trainees and absence of Education Administrator. 
-Oversees and coordinates activities and ensures requirements are met related to institutional, program and board certification requirements. 
-Acts as liaison between education program authority and recipients. 
-Manages recruitment, application and orientation process. 
-Responsible for management of revenues and expenses. 
-Performs other duties as required in a competent professional, respectful and collaborative manner. 
 
The Residency Program Coordinator is a professional position, working independently under the general direction of the Education Administrator and in consultation and regular collaboration with the General Surgery Residency Program Director. This person develops, plans, implements, and maintains the coordination of activities for the residency program as outlined in the ACGME Institutional, Common Program and Specialty Program Guidelines for Graduate Medical Education. In addition, this position is responsible for the direct supervision of the administrative and professional responsibilities for the program’s residents-in-training on a daily basis, and serves as the primary liaison between the Residency Program Director, chief residents, residents, program faculty, Central GME Office, and affiliated teaching sites concerning residency program matters.

Possess a spirit of cooperation, support and understanding for working with resident physicians, medical students, program directors and other support personnel. 
 
Knowledge of various institutional, specialty specific, and ACGME software and data bases that are required to maintain departmental educational accreditation, including but not limited to New Innovations and the Next Accreditation System (NAS). 
 
Knowledge of secure educational website design programs, such as Cascade. 
 
Knowledge of medical terminology. 
 
Knowledge of UNMC system.
