The Intern will support the TFGH Global Fund Surveillance Project staff to optimize efficiency through implementation of series of webinar on Event Based Surveillance. He/ she will support the design and alignment of training programs with the project objectives, and facilitate learning opportunities for various audiences within TFGH, project priority countries and the regional organizations. He/ She will support development of training materials and teaching aids and work with the Training Consultant in the design, implementation and analysis of Training Needs Assessments (TNA). The Intern will work closely with the Project staff and leadership.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Under direct or general supervision, performs a variety of tasks requiring limited independent judgment.
  • May research, compile and prepare routine or ad-hoc reports.
  • May research and maintain records, files and logs.
  • May initiate or maintain contact with customers, vendors or contractors and respond to, research and resolve inquiries of a routine nature.
  • May organize meetings or other venues and arrange for logistical needs such as set up, handouts, reports, speakers and clean up.
  • May assist in developing, implementing and managing programs or projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in a college or university offering a four year degree.
  • Completion of freshman year or higher and in good academic standing.
  • College transcripts required as part of interview process.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and coordination:

  • Support the TFGH Training Consultant to conduct a training needs assessment for Project staff and stakeholders in priority countries to identify gaps for intervention
  • Support the Training Consultant to design agendas and training plans based on the result of the TNA
  • Support the Training Consultant to design instructional and training materials based on the available contents
  • Support the Training Consultant to design training schedule for series of webinars for country team members
  • Develop and maintain a database and reports of all series of webinars conducted as well as onboarding trainings conducted for new staff
  • Ensure that the necessary logistics are in place for successful trainings
  • Coordinate the implementation of onboarding training on Event Based Surveillance and Organizational SOP for new staff
  • Workforce capacity building -In collaboration with the Training Consultant, support in the successful implementation of series webinars to build the capacity of project staff.
  • Lessons learned documentation and sharing -Support the Training Consultant and the TFGH M&E lead to evaluate the training program and produce a report of each training session.
  • Reporting - Hold biweekly updates meeting with Global Fund Surveillance Project staff, throughout the period of service.
  • Deliverable - Comprehensive report of activities at the end of the internship exercise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Sciences, Public Health, or any other related field. Master of Public Health degree and/or current enrollment in a Master of Public Health program, preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as individually as and when required.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Travel:

  • No travel expected

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future.  Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
