The Northeastern University Library invites applications for the role of Global Campus Outreach and Online Learning Librarian, an essential position in a growing suite of services supporting students and faculty in over 60 online programs.
Reporting to the Manager of Global Campus Engagement and Online Learning, the Global Campus Outreach and Online Learning Librarian participates in the design, integration, and assessment of the Library’s array of learning tools and research assistance, with a focus on Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies.

The Global Campus Outreach and Online Learning Librarian serves as a member of the Research and Instruction Department in providing research assistance and instruction to faculty and students in online graduate programs, including proactively seeking faculty partners for the integration of information literacy into online courses. Sh/e will also collaborate with subject experts in the Research and Instruction Department to coordinate and develop advanced research and instruction support for online and distance programs.

Key responsibilities include:
• Subject Librarian/Liaison: Liaise to master’s programs in the College of Professional Studies, serving as a key resource for their faculty, students, and research staff in order to advance the library’s integration into teaching, learning, and scholarship activities.
• Teaching, Learning, and Research Support: Collaborate with faculty to design and deliver course-based modules, tutorials, or webinars on information literacy. Provide open workshops on citation tools, discovery tools, and other knowledge areas/tools supporting the curriculum. Partner with liaisons to develop online learning objects, research guides, and other web resources. Provide research support such as scheduled consultations, walk-in research help, classroom instruction, or virtual assistance. Partner with staff across the library to support research data management, scholarly publishing, repository services, as well as emerging researcher resources and tools.
• Outreach: Maintain frequent, ongoing communication with faculty in assigned disciplines to actively support teaching, research and promote library services and initiatives.
• Specialized Support: Support the expansion of Snell Library’s online learning program by partnering with library staff across departments to offer open online workshops, webinars, and office hours that align with the needs of Northeastern’s online faculty and students. Provide training and documentation about best practices in online teaching for library staff. Provide basic technical and facilitation support for library staff members teaching synchronously online. Stay up to date on innovative online teaching practices with an eye to how they might be incorporated into Snell Library’s online learning program


•MLS from an ALA-accredited program.

•Experience working with online learning technologies in a collaborative environment.

•Working knowledge of online learning design principles, as well as information literacy and research support concepts in an academic library.

•Experience using online learning applications, including screencasting and video conferencing software, presentation tools, and LibGuides.

•Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills, including strong time-management skills.

•Commitment to staying up to date with online teaching and learning trends.

•Commitment to a culture of customer service excellence.

•Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include some evening hours.

•Subject expertise in business or STEM.
•Experience working with graduate students and/or adult learners.
