Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The GIS Analyst provides research support and technical services in the area of geographical information systems (GIS). Administers geospatial data and conducts research analyses of this data. Writes GIS-based statistical reports, develops and writes training materials, and conducts software training involving GIS functionalities. Interfaces with a variety of external constituencies, including research sponsors, state agency professional staff, and the media.


Additional Department Summary: Responsible for working with project directors to provide materials for technical reports, research products, publications, flyers, documents and exhibits. Individual involved with research model development and implementation for both cultural resource management projects and will initiate original research efforts. Individual will be required to travel to field sites to produce documentation and data.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geography, civil engineering or computer science or higher and some GIS experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Anthropology or closely related field and a minimum of six months GIS development and/or experience to include mapping or surveying.

Demonstrable experience with GIS software packages including ArcMap, ArcPad, Autocad, Sketch-Up, ArcPro, etc. and demonstrable experience with Adobe software package to include Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. software package.
