Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Since 1966, researchers at the Carolina Population Center have pioneered data collection and research techniques that move population science forward by emphasizing life course approaches, longitudinal surveys, the integration of biological measurement into social surveys, and attention to context and environment. We are also at the forefront of creating interdisciplinary training programs that integrate approaches from the social and biological sciences, building research capacity and training the next generation of scholars. Our faculty fellows address pressing research questions about population dynamics, fertility, health, mortality, migration, and the environment. Faculty come from multiple disciplines, benefitting from the cross-pollination of ideas. Position Summary
The Global Food Research Program (GFRP) Research Assistant will be organizing and analyzing data on nutrition facts panel and food purchases for our evaluation of Colombia’s food and beverage tax and warning label policies. The GFRP Research Assistant will also participate and present results in team meetings and contribute to the writing of manuscripts.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Experience in nutrition and epidemiology research, understanding of the Colombian context and Colombian food supply
* Language Skills: English (required), Spanish (required)
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Data analysis skills: able to conduct data management and statistical analyses in Stata or SPSS
* Min 3-year experience in dietary and food product data collection and analysis, updating nutrition databases, writing scientific reports and manuscripts
