The University of North Georgia and the Institute for Environmental and Spatial Analysis (IESA) is currently accepting applications for one student worker as a Geology Student Assistant - Institutional Student Worker on the Gainesville campus. The Geology Teaching Assistant will primarily support geology laboratories. They will work under the direct supervision of a faculty member.

  • Geology Student Assistant supports and assists faculty as assigned. 
  • Responsibilities may encompass organizing and cataloging minerals, rocks, and fossil samples in laboratory settings and providing tutoring and guidance to students.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Comfortable using computers, web browsers, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Microsoft Word, Excel, and google Earth.
  • The student is expected to be reliable and responsible in conducting their duties.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • Must have successfully completed physical (GEOL 1121K) or historical geology (GEOL 1122K) and Earth Materials (GEOL 3010K) course as well as GISC 4011K course with at least a B+ grade and faculty recommendation.
