Job Summary
Works with internal and external customers throughout the university to design, develop, and maintain GIS data and reporting. Responsible for developing and supporting GIS reporting applications, data models, and pipelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare geospatial data for analysis and reporting through a variety of methods to support business activities.
  • Develop, support, and document pipelines and integrations that service GIS applications and reporting.
  • Document data models, pipelines, integrations, application configurations, security models, and standard operating procedures that service GIS applications and reporting.
  • Meet with customers and stakeholders to understand business needs, develop use cases and functional requirements, and manage projects to implement reporting and technical solutions.
  • Work under the supervision of senior team members to develop and implement technical solutions.
  • Provide production support to resolve any issues within the scope of the application and toolsets.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Geography, or four (4) years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience using GIS toolsets including ArcGIS.
  • Experience with business requirements gathering, process mapping, and preparing functional and technical documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more (2) years of experience using GIS toolsets including ArcGIS.
  • Experience in data visualization and enterprise reporting tools, such as Oracle Analytics Cloud, PowerBI, Tableau, or SAS.
  • Experience with SQL or Python programming.
  • Experience with developing pipelines and integration methods for ingesting and preparing data.
  • Working with data integration and preparation tools to support a large data reporting and analytics environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle and project management disciplines.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines while paying strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Extremely accurate in all phases of work.
  • Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work well under the direction of senior developers and contribute to the success of the team.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on collaboration and understanding business outcomes, and mapping goals/objectives to reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
