• Provide leadership, management, and strategic oversight in all aspects of operations for the Transportation Services department, ensuring service excellence for stakeholders while maintaining compliance with all applicable University, state, and federal safety regulations related to parking, shuttle, and rental fleet.
• Hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff in all areas of the operation. Develop staff skills through training, supervision, and evaluation.
• Collect and analyze data to support goal-setting and decision-making. Identify action items and key performance indicators.
• As an auxiliary operation, manage departmental finances to maintain a self-supporting and sustainable operation. Create strategies to develop reserves.
• Execute Request for Proposals (RFPs) and contracting with third-party vendors for shuttle services, technology, and other operational needs.
• Conduct an annual review of rental fleet rates and parking permit pricing and make recommendations for adjustments and improvements.
• Maintain an inventory and record of current condition of rental fleet assets, technology, and parking infrastructure, and create a schedule and funding model for maintenance, replacement, and expansion.
• Oversee the assignment and distribution of parking permits to faculty, staff, students, vendors, contractors and visitors on campus.
• Manage 24-hour campus enforcement by overseeing parking policies, ordinances, and processes, monitoring citations, and managing the appeals process. Make decisions regarding the towing of vehicles as necessary.
• Communicate parking lot availability changes to permit holders due to maintenance, snow removal, construction, or campus events. Communicate shuttle interruptions with the ridership.
• Create, implement, and maintain a departmental communications plan including, but not limited to, website updates, social media, maps, and systems for assessment and receiving customer satisfaction feedback.
• Maintain strong relationships and frequent communication with Facilities Management for parking lot maintenance and plowing, and with Public Safety and Police Services for parking enforcement, and motorist assists outside of business hours.
• Participate in a rotation for being on call for after-hours emergencies from rental fleet clients.
• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
• Implement and maintain safety and security-related policies, resources, and training within Transportation Services. Ensure that all staff are applying safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
