Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Game Developer for Game Research and Immersive Design (GRID). Reporting to the assistant director-GRID, this position is responsible for Game Research & Immersive Design project production related tasks. These tasks include animation, 3D modeling, programming, testing, documenting applications, and reports. The position performs fundamental programming and 3D modeling skills to be able to assist others who design, code, test, debug, document and maintain programs. The Game Developer  collaborates with department, division, and partner artists, developers, designers, business analysts, and project managers as directed, to create games and applications containing required features and modifications. This position may provide technical advice to other departments within the university and for integrating features. The Game Developer is also responsible for staying informed of advances in technology and adapting to new development tools and techniques. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Development support conducted in accordance with established university and departmental procedures.
  • Problem identification and resolution
  • Assist in the accomplishment of the unit’s operational goals and objectives
  • Clients who are clearly informed and serviced 
  • Safeguarded unit assets.
  • Compliance with operational policies and procedures
  • Appropriate responses to recommendations of internal and external auditors and other reviews.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field or three or more years of experience in game design, game production, or 3d modeling. 

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with 3D Modeling software, such as Maya, or Blender.
  • Familiarity with game engines and tools, such as the Unity or Unreal game engines.
  • Familiarity with virtual spaces, such as VR Chat and Mozilla HUBS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with animation tools.
  • Familiarity with the Adobe suite of creative software.
  • Familiarity with the Unity game engine.
Equipment Utilized
  • Unity or Unreal game engine.
  • Mozilla HUBS.
  • Blender, Maya, or other 3D modeling software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This position may be assigned to assist in planning and execution of on-campus events such as demonstrations, student outreach programs, Rutgers Day, and more.
